The life of a Judgment in Florida is 20 years

If you have a Judgment in excess of $500.00 based on an Auto Negligence lawsuit you can also suspend the Defendant’s driver’s license for the life of a Judgment

FLORIDA IS COMMONLY KNOWN AS A DEBTOR'S STATE. YOU CAN SEIZE EVERYTHING BUT FOR THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Any property that is jointly owned unless both parties are named on the Judgment

  2. The first $1,000.00 of personal property

  3. The primary residence (called Homestead), this does not include houseboats and sailboats

  4. Wages of a Florida resident who is the “head of the family”, meaning one who provides more than ½ of the support for a child of other dependent

  5. Life Insurance proceeds

  6. Cash Surrender Value of Life Insurance policies and Annuity Contracts

  7. Disability Income benefit

  8. Pension money and Retirement or Profit-Sharing benefits

  9. Money placed in a pre-paid post-secondary education expense trust fund

  10. Assets held in trust
